Changing Jobs without Changing the Employers

Follow these steps to ensure that you do not make a slip-up while making your move.

1- Don’t Jump the Gun

Every organization follows some rules and regulation and holds a well defined policy in place. Find out what their policy is regarding transferring to another department and respect it. Many organizations expect their employees to stay in a same job for at least 6 months to 2 years, and then they allow them to transfer to another department.

3- Follow Someone Else’s Footsteps

When a transfer is concerned, it is of much ease to chase in someone else’s footsteps rather than courageously going where no man or woman has been. Find out the people within your organization, in particular; and outside your organization, in general, to get some advices on how to deal with your bosses and human resources representatives on the issue of transition.

4- Find Your Replacement

Sometimes, your managers just do not want to agree to a transfer because they worth your knowledge and efforts; and they do not look forward to the process of trying to fill your shoes. For this, you have to start scouting within your company to find out someone who is interested in your position. You can also try tapping your extensive network as well. Always remember that if there is talent waiting in the wings, then your boss or manager will be more than happy to support you going to the next level.
